Can't Afford a New Pair of Glasses?
Now you can! I'm surfing my bookmarks and get over to Soapbox Blog and CLD has gotten herself a new pair of prescription sunglasses for $27 including shipping! "No freaking way!", I thought but, yeah, it's true. She tried out Zenni Optical and a commenter says that she and her husband have bought glasses there with no problems too. So with the cost of gas, home heating/cooling, groceries, everything going sky high and killing your budget you might have thought that you would have to wear the same old pair of glasses until they break (and then tape 'em) because it would be one more thing you can't afford. Well now it looks like you can! Too cool.Speaking of saving money on prescriptions, I've heard that the best prices for prescription medicines is through Costco online and I heard you don't have to be a member. I heard this years ago so you might want to double check that by contacting them, it still might be worth it to join if you see that you'll save big.
If anyone has any other ideas for saving money leave a comment and I'll add to the post.

I will be watching this thread! And my BF thanks you for the glasses tip. How'd you know his were taped together?
I don't have much to offer other than the pedestrian kind of stuff: Casseroles, soups, and stews made in bulk are my BFFs for meals. A surprising number of dishes taste just as good (and sometimes better) meatless. Toilet paper works as well as Kleenex. Bleach, vinegar, and soap are all you need to clean things. That kind of stuff.
Lauren did a carnival on this once, Help Us Help Ourselves. I'm always thrilled to see stuff like this because so often--well, let's just say most blogs aren't written with broke people in mind.

Surfing ebay for clothes/shoes that you don't want to buy used: type in New 3T or whatever the size is. I've gotten stuff for a couple bucks that way brand new.
Also, Amazon used books or videos can be great. Anything from "very good" condition on up is totally readable and often total including shipping is under $5.
Finally, I'm a big fan of renting dresses for anyone getting married. Buying dresses and supporting the capitalist propaganda BS is unnecessary IMO. Usually whoever you want to save it for won't fit into it or won't want to wear it. Typically you can rent a dress for about 1/10 of what you would buy it for. Same with jewelry. I rented mine at "One Night Stand," not sure if that's a chain.

I agree that in critical times all prices are soaring, it would be best to find an affordable way to purchase items like eyeglasses. There are a lot of online stores across the country that offers great deals for their clients.
My brother is a huge fan of Wiley X prescription
safety glasses. The Wiley X prescription lenses collection have been famous because of their sturdy frames. Fortunately he found a good deal online and he was able to buy two frames.
It would be best to scout the market for the best packages available. Now, it's all about quality and affordability rolled up in a nifty pair of glasses. Thanks!
